Dr. Petersen, DVM

Dr. Petersen has been drawn to animals from day one. Growing up in rural Maine, she had ample opportunity to work with companion, farm, and wildlife individuals.

Her professional career took her to Phillips Andover, Duke, and then to North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she was active in leadership.

Dr. Petersen feels strongly that her role in the clinic is to serve as an advocate for her patients and clients. Respectful, open communication and consensus building are central to her approach.

Family, friends and ponies, and finding ways to advocate for more sensible and compassionate treatment of all creatures take up most of her out of clinic hours. She hopes to make a meaningful difference for the animals of Virginia and beyond.
